Acids (YOU ARE HARMLESS)   

You are harmless like a baby

Although you have a sour taste

You are innocent

Safety you represent

Although you turn blue litmus paper red

You may be mild and non-toxic

You are a good electrical conductor

You are non-addictive

You are inoffensive

You have pH values less than seven

I need you in my life

You react with active metals to produce hydrogen gas

You are acceptable

You are unobjectionable

You react with carbonates to produce carbon dioxide gas

Chloroplasts (Poem)

Chloroplasts (the wait)

Looking at the stars up in the sky

I linger throughout the night wondering why

You have tiny disc- like structures

I pause to move on in hesitation

I sit there waiting in frustration

For your green chlorophyll

Waiting for your lovely return

This kind of delay feels like a burn

Without your photosynthesis

A postponement of my love

Under the starry sky above

I halt to take a deep breath now and then

Feeling weak; not strong like a thousand men

Under the billions of stars I will stay

A hold up until the light of day

Carbon dioxide 

I am there but you cannot see me

When lime water turns milky

Carbon dioxide ii 

I am colourless

I am odourless

I have a higher density

Than air around me

My chemical reactivity

Is much inactivity

I do not

Support

Combustion

In any action

That’s how I was born

Air pollutants  

You pollute the air

That is everywhere

With your harmful substances

By natural sources

And human activities

Air pollutants ii 

You are sulphur dioxide

You are oxides of nitrogen

You are carbon monoxide

You are lead compounds

And

Chloro-

Fluoro-

Carbons

air 

Air supports life

Like a husband supporting a wife

It allows fire to burn

On its own

It keeps our Earth from getting

Too hot or too cold within

It causes changes in

The weather we are experiencing

Air is a mixture 

Its composition

Varies from place to place and

Time to time

Its constituents can be

Separated easily

By fractional distillation

No chemical reaction

Takes place when air is formed

By mixing

Its constituent

Gases

It has the properties

Of its constituent gases

Chemical reaction 

A chemical reaction

Is a process in action

When substances

In alteration

To form new

Substances to view

Matter(Poem)

Changes in matter  

Changes in matter

Which occur

In chemical reactions

Are due to the

Rearrangement of atoms

Or

Molecules

That’s within your rules

Changes in matter II  

Energy is absorbed when

Molecules break up then

Into atoms

And released when

Atoms recombine

To form new molecules in time

Air pollution can be reduced   

By using unleaded petrol

Not using CFCs and related products at all

Using public transport

Recycling a lot

Saving energy

Planting more trees for me

Fitting vehicles with catalytic converters

Not smoking and encouraging others
